William and Kate, what’s your song?

Classic Beatles or ’90s British pop — Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first song should be attuned to the royal couple’s eclectic taste, said local music man Ari Rosenfield.
“They seem pretty modern and hip for a royal couple,” said Rosenfield, a Boston-based wedding DJ and music consultant, and a member of the Herald’s Royal Wedding Task Force.
The high-end wedding DJ and his Beat Train Productions company spun more than 100 weddings in Boston and New York last year — including posh ’dos at the Ritz and Four Seasons and Newport, R.I., mansions. He expects William and Kate to choose a song from the Beatles’ extensive catalog.

“It’s got to be ‘All You Need Is Love,’ ”

Rosenfield rolled his eyes at recent news that George Michael released a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “You and I” (downloadable for free at georgemichael.com) as a wedding gift for the royal couple.
“The average person on the street is not a George Michael fan,” he said.
Rosenfield guesstimated that the couple could choose a classic Stevie Wonder or Elton John song.
Herald reader, and this week’s Royal Wedding Challenge winner Carol Bailey, also gave Elton John a thumbs-up.
“I think it would be most appropriate for Will and Kate to have the song ‘True Love’ for their first dance for two reasons. First, it is sung by Elton John and Kiki Dee (both from England) and it includes the words ‘you and I have a guardian angel’ (Princess Diana!).”
Bailey and Rosenfield could get their wish: Elton John has been confirmed as a wedding guest.
